Moms half marathon training update

Half marathon training week 7 day 3!! Almost half way through this training! Yay me! Fingers crossed I make it past the 10 mile run this time. This humidity in Korea makes it really hard some days. Even though I run indoors on the treadmill...ac here is not like what us Americans are used to and spoiled with.

Busan South Korea day 3

Day 3 started with mom sticking with her half marathon training schedule. 60 minutes of cardio! With beach views!
Then it was breakfast time. Again with beach view!
We decided it was a good day to check out the subway system and with the help of a Korean lady who spoke zero English, dad figured it out. We took the subway about 5 miles away, about a 10 minute ride to a mall. The day prior we drive over an hour because of traffic to get to it and it was closed.
Carly fell asleep during the walk to the subway and missed the entire ride and woke up in the mall.
Kids weren't too trilled on the way there but had more fun on the way back since they got to sit down.
They had Krispy Kreme doughnuts for a snack at the mall and after we got back it was beach time of course even through drizzles of rain.

After relaxing for a bit dad went for a run along the entire beach.

Half marathon training week 4

Last weigh in was 126.4. Goal is 13.1 mile run. 118 pounds. Hopeful in October this will happen but know it won't be over if I don't make that time.

Half marathon day 2

Today is day 2 of half marathon training. This time going in, I know as I get into the longer runs, I need to increase my calories and protein. Last year, I had to stop after I reach the 10 mile point due to hair loss. I did figure out that it was from lack of nutrients. I wasn't eating enough to sustain all the miles. I have 10 pounds to lose. And lots of endurance to gain.
If all goes right, I'll be running 13.1 miles on Oct 23rd. I'm nervous and excited to see the changes that will help me feel better in my skin.

Fitness progress

Current fitness progress:
Yesterday I ran 3.1 miles. Focusing on a goal time has proven to be much better than focusing on miles. When I set a certain amount of time to accomplish I go further in miles vs setting a goal in miles. My goal yesterday was 32 minutes. 2 days before yesterday I did 30 minutes. Tomorrow I'll try 33 minutes.
I been trying to stay off the scale but every now and then I hop on. Yesterday I hopped on and shouldn't have. 126 lbs. back up again. I hope it's from weights but can't see 2 lbs worth of muscle. It's frustrating.
But still, way better off than I once upon a time was.

Fitness progress update

My workouts are improving. My running is improving. Yesterday I did a solid 30 minutes of running! My thighs today are on fire from doing weighted squats with 10 lbs! Yay progress. I believe I have about 6.5 lbs to lose and lots of tone to gain! I'll get there.

1st treadmill day in Korea

Yesterday was day number 1 on my treadmill in Korea. I am beyond happy to have this treadmill time back. With 2 or 3 kids home running at a gym or outside is not an option.
This PCS has given me 10 pounds. 10 pounds. Being a couple months without any means of consistent running or any weight lifting at all and at most times without ways of healthy meal planning. Plus the stress and lack of sleep this life change causes for weeks on end. I'm at my happiest at a lean, tone, strong 118 ish pounds. Yesterday I weighed in at 126.2. Ouch. It may not be much to some bit for me this is a huge huge deal. This is me at my worst in the past 5 years besides during pregnancy. But, no worries! I'll get it back!
This is my new workout room here in Korea. My treadmill corner.
The treadmill faces the kids' couch and the balcony on 2nd floor. So it's a nice bright view which I need for good running.
TV stand in front of couch for kids, or for workouts or music.
The view down our street from the balcony. There's a rice field at the end of the street.
My old self, lean legs, tone belly and my long hair I miss! In January I chopped my hair. Was tired
Of the bun and pony tails...now I want it back!
My lean, strong tone self rant I didn't realize how in shape I really was! You don't know what you have till it's gone sometimes!!!
And me as of today. But not for long. I'm miserable at this weight/shape. I have 1 pair of jeans that fit me! 8 pounds be gone!
I expected my first run to go awful. I expected to be mad at myself with how awful I was going to do. I only did a mile. Didn't want to push myself. Bit it was easy!
Today I did 1.5 miles. Again easy. Not my best by any means at all but not my worst either!

Why am I addicted to the treadmill?

From: http://benefitsofrunning.org/

Want to keep the stress levels down?  how about getting a toned body.  Thebenefits of running promote a healthy physique. Every bodily function benefits from running, studies show the effects of running can prevent osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, metabolic syndrome and possibly cancer. Running regularly will help you live longer and have you looking great, In addition to adding pep to your sex life.
Runners can experience a runners high were the body is filled with endorphins, the hormone that make you feel good after a run.  Running puts you in a better mood which is found to improve mental health. Running may relive everyday tensions and anxieties that arrive throughout the day.  Running can put you in a meditative state were the pressures fade.
The benefits of running contribute to burning more calories than other types of exercise.  A program for beginners should be one that eases into it really slow, starting gradually being smart and safe. Running sessions of 20 to 30 minutes three times a week should be the goal. Running 3 minutes, then walking 4 minutes should gradually transform you to run consistent for at least 30 minutes.
Trying to get results to fast can get you discouraged and make you lose interest. The goal is to train slowly to prevent injury. Runners should keep a training log to see how much they have done and to keep motivated to be persistent. Remember the benefits of running are improve health, weight loss, higher energy levels and is great stress reliever. Running increases ones confidence, feeling good about oneself thorough running is another emotional perk. Runners are said to be happier people.  Running is a low-cost form of exercise that is waiting for you outside your door.

Yesterday I did my scheduled daily Jillian Michaels workout which was 1.96 miles of her yelling at me. Which by the way, I LOVE this program! It not only pushes you to run 1.96 miles, but the incline alternates between 1-10 throughout and the MPH alternates as well, all automatically. I love it. So its 30 minutes of intense run!

After that in the afternoon, I decided to do a 1 mile run through ROME, ITALY.

And this morning, day 2 of my Jillian Michaels workout. Again, LOVE!

I may do an afternoon run today if I have time.

Can we say, addicted?

My Pro Form 1450 now needs a name. Any ideas? lol.

Im already coming up with decor for our home gym in the loft when our house is ready. Which, we will be walking through it tonight. Cant wait to see what was finished this week! Eeek!

Hello my little friend!

Pro Form 1450 has arrived and been used!!!

New treadmill and new shoes to go with it!

It even knows my name!

My very first run on the treadmill yesterday morning. Which I deleted because for some reason it was set at 4 mph and that is just way to slow for me. So I deleted this run and made another one set on manual speed so I could choose my speed as I am running.

Running the Las Vegas strip from my living room in air conditioning instead of 88 degree weather :D

Caden trying it out. Walking on 1 mph. One of my goals as a Mother is to teach my children that daily exercise is just a way of life. That was never instilled in me and look where it got me....159 pounds and in the 'obese' category on the BMI charts. Not only that but I was just in bad physical condition. I couldn't run to save to my life. Pretty sad for a lady in her 20's.

Me yesterday morning after my first run. Currently 119.4 pounds after months of not being in my running routine or diet due to the big move from Guam to Las Vegas and not having a treadmill on hand or a way of cooking from living in hotel rooms.

Goal is to lose this little bit of flub that hangs over my pants (ignore the stretch marks people! I once was stretched fat and the marks are a constant reminder of what I will never be again!) and get down to 114 lbs but gain muscle.

My little girl all decked out in running shorts and shoes, just like her Mama. :D

Pro Form in the living room of this tiny apartment. Not ideal, but it works until our ginormous house is done being built....where I will turn our loft into our very own private gym. Which I need a name for...any suggestions?

Caden while Mama is runnin'!

So ready to wake up totally this morning so I can hop back on this machine!
I am so not a morning person.
Never have been, never will.
